Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter

Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter

Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter

A portable ultrasonic flow meter measures fluid flow from outside the pipe. By utilizing two ultrasonic sensors, the sound waves are transmitted across the pipe to accurately determine the transit time of a liquid or gas. The recorded transit time is used to mathematically infer the flow rate of the fluid.

Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter Theory

The transit time difference (∆t) between the upstream and downstream transducer signals directly correlates with the velocity of the fluid. Additionally, knowing the cross-sectional area (A) of the pipe allows us to calculate the flow rate (Q) using mathematical formulas.

These parameters enable precise determination of flow rates with 0.5%-2% accuracy, making these meters invaluable tools for various industries requiring accurate flow measurement.

Flowmeter Verification:

Portable ultrasonic flow meter can be used to check if installed flow meters are working accurately in industries like HVAC and chemical processing plants.

Flow Surveys:

Municipal water authorities use portable ultrasonic flow meters to check water distribution systems. This helps them find areas of high or low flow, detect leaks, and make the system more efficient.

Leak Detection in Chilled Water Networks:

In buildings with chilled water systems, portable ultrasonic flow meters find leaks by measuring flow rates. This helps prevent energy wastage and saves costs.

Pump Flow Optimization:

In industries using pumps such as HVAC, portable ultrasonic flow meters help engineers adjust CHW or condensor pump settings for efficient flow rates. This saves energy while maintaining performance.
