Enhance Your Aggregate Moisture Measurement with SONO-VARIO Xtrem®
The SONO-VARIO Xtrem® Aggregate Moisture Probe is an on-line sensor designed to deliver accurate moisture measurement in coarse construction aggregates like granite, gravel, rock, crushed stone, and reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), up to 1.25 inches in size.
Discover the SONO-VARIO Xtrem® Aggregate Moisture Probe
Part of the trusted SONO® sensor family, the SONO Xtrem aggregate moisture probe is engineered for unmatched precision and dependability. It offers moisture readings with better than 0.1% accuracy, making it ideal for concrete and asphalt production where reliable data is critical to optimizing material mixes.
Xtrem® Aggregate Moisture Probe: Advanced TRIME® TDR Technology
The SONO-VARIO Xtrem® probe leverages patented TRIME® TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) technology to penetrate deep into bulk materials, ensuring consistent and repeatable moisture readings. This innovative technology, honed over 20 years, ensures precise results even in the most abrasive environments, catering to diverse measurement needs in aggregate and fresh concrete applications.
Built to Last in Harsh Conditions
The sensor head of the Xtrem® Aggregate Moisture Probe is crafted from high-quality ceramic, engineered to withstand the most abrasive conditions. Beneath its robust exterior, intelligent electronics, equipped with advanced algorithms and filters, work continuously to automatically calibrate and adapt to surface abrasion.
Aggregate Moisture Probe with Replaceable Sensor Head
Unlike many moisture probes, the SONO-VARIO Xtrem® features a replaceable sensor head. This practical design allows for quick and easy replacement if the head becomes worn, reducing downtime and eliminating the need to replace the entire probe. This translates into longer maintenance intervals and lower operational costs.
Precision and Temperature Compensation
The probe includes a built-in temperature sensor located just millimeters below the sensing head. This sensor provides real-time material temperature readings and enables automatic temperature compensation, ensuring the highest accuracy in moisture measurements by preventing measurement drift.
Customizable Calibration Options
With 15 pre-loaded material calibration curves, the SONO-VARIO Xtrem® is highly adaptable, offering tailored measurement solutions for a wide range of materials. Whether you’re dealing with fine aggregates or highly conductive substances, the probe ensures accurate calibration for your specific application.
Easy Integration with Existing Systems
SONO probes offer a range of interface options, accommodating every data transfer need. Transfer parameters such as moisture content, conductivity, and temperature directly into your PLC through two analog outputs (0-20 mA) or via RS485 and IMP-Bus interface. Alternatively, connect the probe to your local PC (USB port) using the SM-USB module or SONO-VIEW field display for individual parameter adjustments and calibrations.
Versatility and High Performance
The SONO-VARIO Xtrem® Aggregate Moisture Probe is ideal for online process moisture measurement, concrete and asphalt production, ready-mix and pre-cast applications, and installations on conveyors, belts, hoppers, and screw conveyors. It is also suitable for highly conductive materials such as foundry sand, ore, slag, and coal.
